There are days when it would be nice to have a little guidance. Days when you wander outside, coffee cup in hand, wondering how to move forward and meet life head on. I sometimes imagine what my conversations would be if I were to run into Abraham Lincoln or Sigmund Freud, if I unexpectedly had an opportunity to bounce a few thoughts and ideas off of them. Freud, I'm sure, would need to hear from me about the whole notion of women and hysterical fantasies. I know, the times were different then, but come on. There is something to be said for stretching the bounds of credulity. Lately I have also been thinking about the whole history of racial relationships in this country, and the legacy of hate and persecution that in many ways formed our history. The complete moral vacuum that was slavery, and those who have always tried to stand up for what is right. Life can be confusing. We need heroes and leaders and a way to remind ourselves what is right.
